GL-electrical (GL-e)

We have recently completed a project with Worcester-based lighting & electrical manufacturer GL-electrical (GL-e) for three new websites to showcase their businesses. The brief was for a family of websites all with a similar feel, but also having the unique style of the individual business. Glal.uk and Green Lighting both needed to be ecommerce websites, with the main GL-e site providing specific information to a specific audience with links back to Green Lighting for purchasing needs.

GL-e is based at the Great Western Business Park, ideally placed when it comes to fast delivery links across the country. They have been supplying house builders with lighting and alarm systems for over 20 years, with their Glal.uk business also providing furniture, soft furnishings and accessories to both consumers and the house building trade.

Once the initial sitemap and structure of each website was agreed, each site was designed using Adobe XD and then built using HTML and PHP as custom themes for WordPress. As a result of using bespoke themes, rather than a standard off-the-shelf option, we were able to maximise the optimisation benefits for each individual element of the site as well as for search engines. Custom themes also benefit the website speed, allowing it to be more responsive as the code is written specifically for the site in question in the most efficient manner. This is of key importance for the user journey, and for encouraging customers to stay on the website to complete their purchase.

All three websites have a similar feel to them stylistically, with Glal.uk and Green Lighting showcasing some striking imagery with a clean design and plenty of room for text. These two ecommerce websites also have category headings and space to showcase the latest offers, products and trends to help generate sales for the businesses by making the user journey as simple as possible. All of the spacing and text has been put together with search engine optimisation in mind.

Added functionality and benefits include the option to create a wedding wishlist on Glal.uk, or to have a trade account for Green Lighting where house builders, M&E consultants, Electrical Contractors and Interior Designers can access trade prices.
