Meet the Client: Rumours Hair and Beauty

For the first in a series of Q&As with our fantastic clients, we would like to introduce you to Lesley Huus who runs two businesses with husband Rene – Rumours Hair & Beauty Salon and UK Beauty Club.

What does your business do?
We run a Hair & Beauty salon and e-commerce shop selling hair and beauty products.

How did you get into the industry?
I always wanted to be a hairdresser like my Mum and have been for 38 years since I left school. We started selling and sending our products to my husbands family and friends in Denmark and the idea of the online shop grew from there.

What do you like best about your job?
Making people look and feel their best and just being around people every day. Us hairdressers do like to talk… a lot!

What is your business’s USP?
Great customer service, excellence, experience and quality are what we strive for!

Where do you get most of your new customers from?
In the salon it’s word of mouth as our customers often recommend us to their family and friends. Most new visitors to our online shop find us directly from Google.

How has working with Worcester Web Studio helped you?
Ray and his team at Worcester Web Studio are excellent at what they do. They have helped us build a better platform for both our salon and shop, plus attractive websites for both. They are constantly making sure the SEO is updated driving more customers to shop with us and they also do some of our social media, email marketing and PPC which is really helpful.

Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Hopefully in the hands of someone else as i’ll be retired on a beach somewhere!

More seriously, both the salon and the online shop are wonderful businesses to own and I feel very lucky to have spent my working life doing something that I enjoy with people I like so I would hope one of my team could take over and make it even more successful.

What advice would you give to someone starting their first business?
Be prepared for long hours and hard work but if you put that time in I think it’s one of the most rewarding things you’ll ever do. Try not to stress about your workload… you’re doing it for you!
